Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is once again the talk of college football even after he went just 4-8 last season, as he and his squad have plenty of talent returning and a new conference to conquer in the school’s return to the Big 12.
Many have wondered if the exuberant coach will eventually jump ship for the NFL, but Sanders recently shot down those rumors before they got out of hand.
In an appearance on “Freddie and Harry,” Sanders told former NFL wide receiver Harry Douglas that he doesn’t see an NFL future for himself.
“No, never,” Sanders said. “You know how I am, I’m old school, man. These guys make so much money now, they can’t hit.”

Sanders continued to joke that some of the players in the NFL “really don’t want to play.”
“I’m not trying to convince a man who’s making millions and millions of dollars to go out there and play football,” the Hall of Famer added. “I’d start out the game with 47 (players) because you can dress 47. By halftime, I’m coming back out there with about 30, I promise you … I couldn’t do it.”
This is about as clear a statement as one can make, and it’s smart for Sanders to get out ahead of this before the season, as he surely knows better than anyone that Colorado is one more fast start away from those NFL rumors firing back up.
His son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is projected as a top-5 pick in many 2025 mock drafts, which would only add more fuel to that fire.
