The San Francisco 49ers have one of the most stacked teams in the entire National Football League, and we don’t mean just their roster.

For years, being an assistant coach there has been one of the most sought-after positions in all of football.

When it comes to their defensive coordinator position, they’ve had nothing but the creme of the crop.

Steve Wilks had head coaching experience, and both Robert Saleh and Demeco Ryans went on to get head coaching gigs of their own.

That’s why NFL analyst Peter Schrager believes Nick Sorensen could be the biggest X-factor in San Francisco this season.

Talking on Good Morning Football, he pointed out that while Sorensen isn’t a household name by any means, history suggests that he could be the next big shot to come out of the Bay area.

He talked about his trajectory as a special teams player and not-so-known defensive player before he went on to have a long career as an assistant coach.

He helped out the Legion of Boom with the Seattle Seahawks as their DB coach, and he kept working his way up from there.

With that in mind, he thinks that, should he be as good as the Niners think he can be, it wouldn’t be much of a shock to see him become one of the next head coaching candidates late in the season.

No one truly knows what to expect from him right now, but with their track record and plethora of talent, there’s no reason to believe he won’t do a great job.
