Months after wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk first demanded a huge contract extension, the saga surrounding him is ongoing for the San Francisco 49ers, and it is not easy to tell how it will end.
In the last few days, they have reportedly restarted extension talks with him after trade negotiations broke down with at least three teams, and thus there is renewed hope that he will agree to a new deal and stay in the Bay.
While he has been at training camp, he hasn’t participated in practice, and while one may be concerned that he isn’t getting in football shape, head coach Kyle Shanahan trusts the 26-year-old to do what he needs to do to prepare for the regular season, per 95.7 The Game.

Aiyuk is one of the Niners’ biggest threats on offense, and it is pretty safe to say that if they do trade him, they will no longer be Super Bowl contenders.
He had 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns and was second in yards per reception with 17.9 last year, and some feel he was snubbed by not getting voted into the Pro Bowl.
Trade agreements that were reportedly in place with the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots were nixed by Aiyuk, and San Francisco stopped trade talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers late last week.
There is some time for San Francisco to work things out with their star wideout, and it now looks like they have a new determination to do just that as soon as possible.
