Nick Wright has some wild takes sometimes but balances them out with plenty of thoughtful diatribes that show how much he truly cares about sports.

His new idea concerning LeBron James’ future is so absurd that it’s not even worth getting emotionally invested in, but it is certainly fun to think about.

In a new episode of First Things First, Wright cooked up a way for LeBron and Steph Curry to finally team up next season by proposing a trade that lands both superstars with the San Antonio Spurs, while the Los Angeles Lakers receive Keldon Johnson, Harrison Barnes, and two first-round picks, and the Golden State Warriors receive Devin Vassell, Zach Collins, Sidy Cissoko, and two more first-round picks.

The Lakers picks would be San Antonio’s 2027 first and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2031 first, while the Warriors would get the Atlanta Hawks’ 2027 first and the Dallas Mavericks’ 2030 first.

It’s a lot to digest, but there’s not much meat here.

Given their statures and their ties to their current cities, LeBron and Steph are likely both untradeable until the day they request a trade.

Aside from that, this would be an incomprehensibly bad trade for both the Lakers and Warriors, as both teams would get demonstrably worse and Vassell would be the only player headed the other way that could serve as any sort of long-term asset aside from the draft picks.

Every superstar traded in recent years cost much more than this.

It’s not even a guarantee that the Spurs would do this given LeBron’s age, as a couple of years from now they could be left with nobody if Wemby has to watch both his superstar teammates retire.
