For the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to “hold in” during training camp, as he’s there but not taking part in practice, and he still wants out.
He had demanded a big contract extension months ago, then asked to be traded after the 49ers didn’t give him the type of offer he’s been looking for.
While some feel the Niners should pay him, others accuse him of being a diva and want the team to ship him out and end this saga.
One-time Niners cornerback Richard Sherman gave his two cents on the situation and said that the squad simply “cannot pay everyone” due to the realities of the NFL’s hard salary cap, per The Volume.

Aiyuk is going into the final year of his current deal, which will pay him roughly $14 million, and he’s been looking for an extension in the area of $30 million a year.
This week, San Francisco went from being unwilling to entertain trade offers for him to being open to them, and they reportedly have an agreement in place with the Cleveland Browns if Aiyuk could come to terms with the Browns on an extension.
The team has also been reportedly talking to the Pittsburgh Steelers about a potential deal.
The New England Patriots were another team the 49ers had an agreement in place with, but Aiyuk reportedly turned down their offer of at least $30 million a year, and they ended their pursuit of the wideout.
With about a month to go before the start of the regular season, the 49ers don’t seem to be in a great rush to trade Aiyuk, but this standoff seems headed for a disjointed ending, as Sherman pointed out.
