The United States men’s basketball team has gotten a lot of attention throughout the Olympics.
This was to be expected for a roster full of All-Stars, and there was a narrative surrounding them heading into these games.
While it looked rough at times, they found a way to take down Serbia en route to the gold medal match.
Waiting for them is France, who took care of business in their game against Germany.
While France did win, one of their top players was barely on the floor.
According to Bleacher Report, Rudy Gobert played the third-fewest minutes of anyone on his team in this game.
Gobert played fewer minutes than everybody on his team other than Nando de Colo (3 min) and Bilal Coulibaly (DNP) 😳 pic.twitter.com/dUCVXaE10Q

This was a bit surprising to see, considering Gobert’s success in the NBA.
After seeing these numbers, fans from around the world took to social media, mostly to roast Gobert for his lack of playing time.
Hmm great defender but really lacks on offense

Between fans questioning his Defensive Player of the Year status to others saying he got “exposed,” Gobert has a lot of work to do to maintain his status in the public eye.
France didn’t seem to want him on the floor in this massive game, but there had to have been a reason for it.
Gobert could be injured, or the team could have limited his minutes to ensure he’d be fully rested and ready to go against Team USA.
Regardless of the rationale behind it, Gobert was benched, and he’ll need to get back to form ahead of a very important gold medal matchup.
