The most interesting storyline coming into training camp for the revamped Pittsburgh Steelers was who would win the battle for the starting quarterback spot.
They signed veteran and future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson during the offseason, and they also traded for Justin Fields, who is going into his fourth year but has thus far been a disappointment in the NFL.
On Tuesday, the Steelers’ first depth chart was released, and as plenty of people expected, Wilson was listed as their QB1, per Mike DeFabo.
Russell Wilson moves from “pole position” to QB1 on the first depth chart.
Beanie Bishop is listed as the starting nickel, as expected.

Wilson endured two frustrating and dismal years with the Denver Broncos, but now he will have another chance to prove he’s still got it with a new team and a new offense.
He will have upstart wide receiver George Pickens, who had 1,140 receiving yards and led the NFL in yards per reception last year, to throw the football to, as well as a very strong defense.
In addition, the running back duo of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren should take a decent amount of pressure off of Wilson.
Fields put up anemic numbers the last three years with the Chicago Bears, yet there has been a feeling he could supplant Wilson and become Pittsburgh’s starter at some point this season.
In his career thus far, he has a 60.3 percent completion rate and has thrown 40 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions in 40 games.
Pittsburgh went 10-7 and made the playoffs last year even though Kenny Pickett, their starting QB at the time, made it clear he was very lackluster, so one could figure that this year, they could be very competitive, no matter who is starting under center.
