After making it all the way to the Super Bowl and coming up short to the Kansas City Chiefs last season, the San Francisco 49ers have high hopes of being a legitimate title contender in the NFC for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately for San Francisco, there have been some big distractions for the team this offseason, which has bled into training camp and looks like it will continue into the preseason.

Star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been in contract negotiations for months now, and there’s been no traction on getting the lucrative long-term deal that he desires, as he wants to become one of the highest-paid players at his position.

With Aiyuk looking more like he’ll get traded ahead of Week 1 rather than suit up for the 49ers again, fellow star wide receiver Deebo Samuel opened up about his relationship with his teammate and how he’ll support him no matter how things turn out in San Francisco.

“I still talk to him every day … regardless of whatever happens that still my guy, I love him to death. He here, he there, or wherever. Business is business, I can only control the things that I can control,” Samuel said, via 95.7 The Game.

At this point, Aiyuk playing another game for the 49ers looks unlikely, as it seems like there’s a sizable gap between what he wants in his new deal and what the team is willing to pay him.

Even though a trade seems like the ultimate scenario for the 49ers, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility a deal gets done in the coming weeks.
