As was the case a year ago, there is lots of hype surrounding the New York Jets, and it is mainly because of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

He has apparently made a full recovery from the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 of last season, and he has a talented cast around him on both sides of the football.

The fact that the Jets gave up plenty of capital to get Rodgers, who is 40 years of age, and has plenty of studs around him has put lots of pressure on them to win the Super Bowl championship.

Former Jets head coach Eric Mangini said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that Rodgers “better bring the Jets to the Super Bowl” because of what they gave up to get him and the talent they have around him.

Mangini mentioned how Tom Brady at about the same age left a declining New England Patriots organization to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and delivered the Buccaneers a Vince Lombardi Trophy in his first year with them.

However, it isn’t exactly a perfect analogy, as Brady was a free agent signing and hadn’t recently torn his Achilles.

On paper, New York seems to have enough talent to win it all or at least have a real shot at doing so — they have wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams, running back Breece Hall and an excellent defense.

But they haven’t gotten to the Super Bowl since the 1968 season and have been the recipient of lots of bad fortune over the years, which has made some people skittish about expecting the world from the team.
