With just under three weeks until the opening weekend of the Premier League season, here are five summer signings that will certainly be influential in this upcoming campaign, some of which you may have missed…
Archie Gray, Leeds to Tottenham Hotspur
The 2023/24 Championship Young Player of the Season quickly became a fan favourite in his breakout year at Leeds, the childhood club for which his father and grandfather both played. A failure to reach promotion from the Championship for the Yorkshire side ensured it impossible for them to hold on to such an emerging talent.
Archie Gray is fantastic with the ball at his feet, known for commanding the midfield and driving forward confidently with the ball even at the young age of 18. His technical ability is second to none. Tottenham fans should be excited to have secured the services of this young prospect, hoping that he features enough to continue improving at this outstanding rate.
Leny Yoro, Lille to Manchester United
Leny Yoro, named in the Ligue One Team of the Season last season, the young French centre-back played 32 times helping Lille secure a very respectable fourth-place finish. Manchester United saw off competition from Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain for his signature.
The 18-year-old impresses with his athleticism and speed in defence, often serving as the last defender. United fans will be excited about his confidence in possession, hoping he will aid their ambition to continue playing out from the back this season under Erik Ten Hag.
Daichi Kamada, Lazio to Crystal Palace (end of Contract)
The experienced Japanese international, who has featured 33 times for his country, joins up with former manager Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace, having won the Europa League under his management at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Daichi Kamada is known for his intelligence, his confidence in using both feet and his late runs into the box. Palace fans will be hoping that he can help to fill the void left by Michael Olise’s departure.
Max Kilman, Wolves to West Ham
Familiar to most Premier League fans, West Ham prized away the Wolves’ Club Captain, who played every minute of their campaign last season, following relegation to the Championship.
Max Kilman’s leadership qualities and Premier League experience should bring some stability to the West Ham defence, and he is a superb reader of the game who is also comfortable on the ball, something that Hammers fans complained their backline lacked last season.
Ross Barkley, Luton town to Aston villa
Seven more expensive players have arrived at Villa Park this summer so far and yet Ross Barkley’s return to the club seems to have pleased fans as much as any other. He spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Aston Villa, making 24 appearances in all competitions.
A proven Premier League midfielder, Ross Barkley carries the ball excellently and aggressively, impressing with his wide range of passing and long-range shooting. Villa fans will be hoping that the experienced 30-year-old will make an impact across their busy European and domestic campaigns, even if it is mostly off the bench.
