NBA stars get drug tested throughout the year, and this includes the offseason as the league can send someone over to drug test them randomly with little notice.

Sometimes, it doesn’t appear to be random, especially when you resurface in a press conference noticeably larger than when fans previously saw you a few months ago.

This is what happened to Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey after his recent press conference, where he looked considerably more muscular than he did the last time we saw him during April’s early playoff exit, prompting the league to reportedly test him as Maxey took to X to let his fans know, “I really got drug tested because of y’all.”

It has been a strong offseason for Maxey, who won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award and was rewarded by the Sixers with a five-year, $204 million extension for his efforts following a career year that saw him post 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game.

The drug test is a funny coincidence, but it’s great to see Maxey getting notably stronger and see that he isn’t content simply winning the Most Improved Player Award and resting on his laurels.

With Joel Embiid and Paul George on the tail ends of their superstardom on the wrong side of age 30, this is the time for the Sixers to make a push for an NBA Championship, and they can’t do it without Maxey being the best possible version of himself.

We aren’t even halfway through the offseason, so just imagine how jacked Maxey will be by the time the season starts.

He might have many more drug tests headed his way.
