Over the course of the 2023 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs seemed to have nothing but off-the-field distractions and some issues on the offensive side of the football, which has never been a problem during the Patrick Mahomes era.
Although this turned out to be a good thing for the Chiefs and for the NFL for that matter, as it brought in a whole new fan base to watch football every week, superstar Travis Kelce dating pop star Taylor Swift seemed to be challenging to deal with because of all the added attention, which is something that the veteran tight end and the team didn’t need at the time.
Fortunately for the Chiefs, Kansas City turned it on in the NFL playoffs, making easy work of the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens on their way to the Super Bowl, where they beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime to win back-to-back titles.
If the Chiefs hadn’t won it all again, Swift’s presence would likely be viewed much differently, as it would be perceived as having a negative impact on the team.
However, the Chiefs became the first team since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots to win back-to-back Super Bowls, so all is forgiven and forgotten.
Despite the fact that the Chiefs are reigning champions once again, Kansas City can’t shake the Kelce-Swift news on a seemingly daily basis, with the latest being how much he spent on “meaningful” gifts for his uber-famous girlfriend.
“An insider has told The U.S. Sun that the two-time Super Bowl winner treated his mega-star girlfriend to some stunning pieces from her favorite designers. The source reports that Travis dropped $75,000 on “meaningful” gifts.”
The real question moving forward is whether Swift and her relationship with Kelce will become more of a distraction in 2024 as the Chiefs try to make NFL history by being the first team to win three straight titles.
Only time will tell how everything will unfold in Kansas City, but one thing is certain: all eyes will be on the Chiefs again next season.
