If you’re a fan of the Halo and Portal games, you may already know about Splitgate, a free-to-play, multiplayer, first-person-shooter game that combines elements of those two hits. And now Splitgate 2 is on the way. On Thursday, Ian Proulx, CEO of 1047 Games, Splitgate’s creator, posted on the PlayStation blog that the sequel is coming in 2025. It’ll be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Epic Games Store and Steam.
“We had to start fresh, in some ways,” Proulx wrote. “That meant building from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, with completely new character models, new maps, new weapons, and even new portal walls and portals.”
A new two-minute trailer revealed some footage from the upcoming game.
“One of the reasons we wanted to make Splitgate 2 in Unreal Engine 5 is to make sure we have some seriously sick character skins and weapons,” Proulx wrote. “That goes for the free base skins and weapons too, which I made certain to look better than anything in our first game.”
More information on the sequel will come in August, Proulx said.
The original Splitgate features futuristic, Halo-inspired combat, and players can travel or fire weapons through portals that have been compared to those from the Portal series.
