After a stint with the Los Angeles Clippers, veteran guard Russell Westbrook is on the move again, as he is set to play for what will be his sixth NBA team this coming season.
He has been traded to the Utah Jazz but will be waived so he can sign with the Denver Nuggets and join forces with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
The move is part of a deal that sends Kris Dunn to Los Angeles, where the Clippers promptly signed him to a three-year contract in order to bolster their backcourt.
Even though it seemed like Westbrook had found a new long-term home with the Clippers, the franchise had no intention of keeping the former NBA MVP in town, as he became more of an issue on the floor than an asset that improved the squad, which is what the Los Angeles Lakers concluded before they shipped him to the Jazz a couple of years ago.
Although it seems as though Westbrook has overstayed his welcome on each team he’s played for since being traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder, former Lakers teammate Austin Reaves recently gave him some high praise, via All the Smoke Productions.
“[Russell Westbrook] is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had,” Reaves said.

Despite making an impression on Reaves, Westbrook continues to rub teams and other players the wrong way in what seems to be the twilight of his career, facing the reality that he is no longer a game-changer.
It’ll be interesting to see how he’s perceived in Denver on a team that is ready to contend for another title, as he might do more harm than good for Jokic and company.
