Former Knicks GM Reveals His Thoughts On Jalen Brunson’s Contract

The New York Knicks should build Jalen Brunson a statue.

Giving up $113 million was an unprecedented move, and it speaks volumes about his desire to compete and build something great in the Big Apple.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t come exempt from risks.

That’s why former Knicks GM Scott Perry claimed that, hopefully, this won’t backfire, as he could always suffer an injury that could hamper his ability to get a bigger contract down the line (via Hoops Genius).

Of course, he also praised Brunson for this decision.

Truth be told, this is a business, and a very cruel one.

The Knicks might not want to keep him around if they feel like he’s no longer the player he once was.

Hopefully, that won’t be the case at all.

Brunson’s decision is also creating a bit of a ripple effect in the locker room.

A recent report states that fellow Villanova alumnus Mikal Bridges is considering taking the same approach to help the team keep adding even more talent and competing at the highest level for years to come.

Props to Brunson and his teammates if that’s the case, and the fans may never forget this massive gesture, even if they don’t win an NBA championship.

NBA players are already making dozens of millions as it is, and that’s without talking about their endorsements or investments.

Greed and championships don’t usually go together in professional sports, and sometimes, athletes forget that they didn’t get into the game for the money at first.
