Texas lands a two-way threat In Houston’s Nick Townsend

Steve Sarkisian is gobbling talent as his Texas Longhorns get ready for their first season in the SEC.

The coach won’t have 4-star Nick Townsend until next season but the tight end is the highest recruited player Sarkisian has landed at the position since taking over in Austin.

Townend attends Dekaney in Houston (TX).

Per 247 Sports:

Plays and excels on both sides of the ball and looks like a legitimate Top247 guy as a TE, linebacker or edge rusher. Has a tight end frame but runs like a big receiver. Lines up all over, out wide, slot and in the backfield and shows strong hands and the ability to make big plays after the catch. Runs away from defensive backs, drags would-be tacklers and has a physical edge in his game. Flashes on defense at linebacker and edge showing natural pass rush skill and hits like a truck as a ‘backer.
