The Brooklyn Nets appear to finally be willing to rebuild its team after they dealt away Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in exchange for a haul of draft picks.
Brooklyn has been mired in one of its worst stretches in franchise history but is poised to reset the roster following the Bridges trade.
The Nets have several veterans on the roster that could net them even more draft picks and it seems likely that they’re headed for a firesale though they could wait until the 2024-25 NBA season’s trade deadline to take advantage of the market.
However, Ben Simmons appears stuck on the roster due to his bloated contract and lack of on-court availability.
Following his exit from the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons has struggled to stay healthy and is almost considered dead weight at this point.
Stephen A. Smith was highly critical of Simmons and called him out via The OGs Show.
“He’s lucky he’s not in prison for theft… I’m sure of all the places he could really get focused and zero in on his basketball prowess. He’s going to pick Miami?… He [doesn’t] love the game,” Smith said.

Smith starts off by saying he doesn’t believe athletes fake injuries, though he does admit to questioning whether or not Simmons was actually hurt.
Smith then becomes more animated and it’s clear that he’s grown fed up with how Simmons has carried himself.
The ESPN analyst didn’t hold back when discussing the former All-Star, though the latter can’t do anything except roll with the punches until he proves he can win basketball games again.
