The Boston Celtics are, once again, the winningest franchise in NBA history.

Nonetheless, despite their history, it’s been a while since they had a truly marketable and universally beloved and respected player.

For whatever reason, fans haven’t been as sympathetic towards Jayson Tatum, and that’s despite him being one of the best players on Earth.

However, now that he’s officially gotten over the hump and won an NBA championship, the timing was perfect for NBA 2K to make him one of the cover athletes for NBA 2K25.

That’s why the team took to Twitter to brag about the other two former Celtics who also made it to the cover of the game and also won championships.

Tatum will now join the likes of Kevin Garnett and Larry Bird on that select list.

For years, the fans criticized him for falling short when it mattered the most, even though he did have some big performances in the playoffs.

That only became more of an issue after the Celtics lost to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals.

That’s the kind of responsibility that comes with playing for one of the most historic franchises in professional basketball.

Tatum went through some growing pains to become the superstar he is nowadays, and no one can take that NBA championship away from him.

Hopefully, he’ll start getting the praise and recognition he should’ve always gotten for the way he plays and the impact he has on winning.
