The Digital Frontier: Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Online Gambling

The online gambling boom first kicked off a few years ago, but shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, many analysts project that this expansion into the global market will continue for years to come. The continued influence of artificial intelligence and virtual reality will open up new possibilities for the industry, leading entrepreneurs to ask, ‘How can I get a piece of the pie?’

The popular casino game JackpotCity may be the answer hiding in plain sight. That is, casino games are the answer.  Just as JackpotCity has become hugely popular in Africa, there are hundreds of other casino games that have also besotted players with their unique presentation of skill and chance. These new casino games have become a cornerstone for the gambling industry.

But the fact is that online casinos offer something for every type of player. And with such a large customer base, there’s opportunity. If there’s money spent then there’s money to be made. Not convinced? The biggest gambling firms in the UK produced record revenues last year, an insane £15.1 billion. Feel like you might cry? That’s because the figure is eye-watering.

Potential Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Okay, let’s start with the most obvious entrepreneurial scheme: You could start your own online casino platform. But the chances are that you don’t have the money to get that off the ground. After all, you’d need to make it user-friendly and well-designed, and that’s without even acquiring games. It’s not impossible, but it’s not really feasible either. But that idea on the ‘come back to it’ pile.

Do you have developing skills? You could make your own casino game and sell it to a company. The demand is high and there’s money to be made from it. The product needs to blend engaging gameplay with attractive graphics and sound design to keep players engaged and entertained while they pursue profit. Heck, even if you don’t have any developing skills, you could think up the idea and design yourself and hire a developer to help you bring the prototype to life.

Here’s one that could give you a payday and make the world a slightly better place: Responsible gambling tools. Sadly, gambling addiction is a problem, and casinos want to promote responsible gambling. Creating software that can help to combat this could be a very attractive product for companies to purchase and incorporate into their sites. Whether it’s a tool for identifying problem gambling behaviour or something that sets bet limits for players, these are always useful.

Things to Consider

Before you go putting your house on a future in the gambling industry, there are a number of things you need to consider. The world of online gambling can be challenging at the best of times, especially to outsiders. Anyone hoping to make a quick buck from this industry will encounter a complex landscape of regulations, fierce competition, and rapidly evolving technology. It won’t be easy.

Does ‘won’t be easy’ cover it? Maybe not. It will be hard. This isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. They’re more ideas for people who were thinking about getting into the industry anyway. Online gambling is heavily regulated in most jurisdictions, meaning you’ll have to get familiar with complex legal requirements before obtaining all of the necessary licenses required. Success in this field doesn’t only require skill and technological expertise, it also requires grit and determination. If that’s you, go for it.

If not, perhaps stick with being on the other side of the betting transaction and admire the work it takes to develop a website – or even a game – that is visited by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people.
