The Los Angeles Lakers are having one of the more fascinating offseasons in recent memory.
They fired former head coach Darvin Ham and made the move to hire former NBA player JJ Redick to take his place.
The franchise made waves by drafting Bronny James, the son of legendary player LeBron James.
While recently speaking with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, LeBron James gave his take on the team’s decision to not sign any key free agents.
“It just didn’t happen. And that’s okay, it’s part of the business,” James stated.

As McMenamin noted in the interview, key players such as DeMar DeRozan and Klay Thompson, who the Lakers probably could have used, are on new teams.
As it stands right now, the team is a ways away from competing with the likes of the Timberwolves, Mavericks, Nuggets, and Thunder in the Western Conference.
They have not won 50 games since they won the title in 2019-2020.
For them to be able to compete with some of those great teams, they are going to need to bring in some more help.
They can’t rely on the growth of players like Austin Reaves and even Bronny James.
LeBron James said the right things in the interview, but the Lakers’ inability to add some more help may cost them down the road.
