With JJ Redick now head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, the former ESPN analyst also has to say goodbye to his gig as a part-time podcaster.
He recently posted a goodbye video for listeners of “The Old Man & The Three” podcast.
“I wanted to give a quick thank you to every single person who has listened to one of our podcasts …,” Redick said. “… I will be moving on to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. … I feel very grateful.”
“Everything we have done has been based upon a foundation of a love of the game of basketball, and going forward, everything that @ThreeFourTwopro will do without me will be based on that love of the game of basketball.”

Redick is making the right call by setting his podcasting aside so that all of his attention can be focused on the Lakers. He also was co-host of a podcast with LeBron James, who is now one of his players.
Remember, since 2011, the storied franchise has won just a single championship (in 2020) and posted 50+ victories once as well.
The team has struggled to find consistency, and Redick will be the eighth head coach since Phil Jackson departed following the 2010-11 season.
But perhaps Redick, a 15-season NBA veteran, will be able to infuse some of his player’s mentality into the team and guide them back to title contention.
With James signed up for yet another season, and Anthony Davis still in the middle, Los Angeles should be a formidable team at minimum.
But in the end, it will be up to the 40-year-old Redick to make it count.
