Coming into the 2023-24 NBA season, no one knew what to expect from the Minnesota Timberwolves after a disastrous end to the previous season, which had teammates fighting and punching walls.

Although many believed that the Timberwolves might try to make a trade to shake things up, Minnesota went from a mess to a polished product, as Anthony Edwards and company dominated the competition right out of the gate and quickly rose up the standings in the Western Conference.

Ultimately, the Timberwolves were able to maintain their dominance while locking up the third seed in the West heading into the NBA playoffs behind the Denver Nuggets and upstart Oklahoma City Thunder.

As a result of the Timberwolves turning the corner, Edwards became a legitimate superstar in the NBA, with many believing he could be the league’s best player in the very near future.

It appears that Edwards has taken this confidence into training camp with Team USA in Las Vegas, Nevada, as he believes he should be the team’s No. 1 option moving forward via Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.

“I’m still the number one option. Y’all might look at it differently. … They’ve got to fit in around me. That’s how I feel,” Edwards said.

With Edwards set to share the floor with fellow superstars Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant, he may have overstepped with his comments here, even though it shows extreme confidence, which is needed to become the caliber of player he aspires to be.

It’ll be interesting to see if these comments cause some issues on this team, which is filled with talent from top to bottom.
