To this point in his NBA career, Klay Thompson has always been associated with the Golden State Warriors, a team he helped lead to four world championships, but he is now headed to the Dallas Mavericks.
It will be a major career change for him, as he will now be playing off of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving instead of Stephen Curry, who was his “Splash Brothers” partner for about a decade.
There may be about three months to go before the start of training camp for the 2024-25 season, but Thompson was seen working on his craft in the gym in a video posted by Hoop Central.

Thompson is going to be a sure-fire Hall of Famer once his basketball career is over, and he is one of the greatest 3-point shooters and overall perimeter shooters in the history of the sport.
His ACL and Achilles injuries a few years ago robbed him of some of his ability, particularly on the defensive end, and while his shooting has become inconsistent over the last three seasons, he still has to be respected as a major threat.
When the Mavericks lost in the NBA Finals last month to the Boston Celtics, they had a glaring lack of offensive firepower other than Doncic and Irving, and a spry enough Thompson will help in that regard.
He will be able to prevent opposing defenses from trapping Doncic and Irving, especially on the perimeter off of pick-and-rolls and in the paint once both stars get past their initial defenders.
A full training camp with midseason acquisitions P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford will also help Dallas take another step forward toward winning it all.
