Dakorien Moore reveals Oregon decision with July 4 fireworks

The No. 1 high school wide receiver in the nation chose the ideal way to celebrate the Fourth of July and announce his future football plans.

Dakorien Moore of Duncanville High School (Texas) lit off non-aerial fireworks on Thursday with smoke that revealed which of the four colleges he was considering—LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas—stood as his top choice.

After ignition, a couple of rockets shot off and eventually green smoke filled out of the box, signaling the talented wideout had chosen Eugene, Oregon, as his next stop.

Moore, who had a shirt lying face-down on a car behind the show, picked it up and revealed that the image on it was a Duck.

Moore, widely regarded as the best receiver in the class, is also ranked among leading outlets as a top-five overall recruit in the class of 2025. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 182 pounds, he had 33 offers. Moore had previously been committed to LSU before decommitting in May and visiting each of his finalists once more.

As a junior, he recorded 65 receptions for 1,303 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He also competed in the 100-meter race, 200-meter, 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relays, and the long jump. The 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams finished second in the UIL 6A State Championships, while the 4×200 team won the title.

Oregon’s class of 2025, with 15 commits, is now ranked No. 5 in the nation ahead of its shift to the Big Ten.
