The Chicago Bulls seem to be transitioning towards a rebuild and a new era.

Nonetheless, they can’t do things half-heartedly, as that kind of approach rarely works out in this league.

At least, that’s how NBA analyst Joe Cowley feels about them.

Talking to Brian Geltzeiler on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Cowley claimed that the Bulls are walking a fine line right now.

They have to fully embrace a rebuild mode and make the most of the stacked 2025 NBA Draft class, as opposed to trying to stay competitive next season.

He argued that the moves they made were great at first, as landing the likes of Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Lonzo Ball could’ve done wonders for their culture and ability to compete.

However, they made a mistake by holding onto their assets for longer than they should’ve, and he thought they could’ve gotten more for Alex Caruso instead of just settling for Josh Giddey.

The Bulls can’t do anything about the past and the moves they made or didn’t make, but they can control their future.

Losing teams don’t usually get fans in the seats, but this team needs to endure a couple of bad seasons to get back on track and to their winning ways.

At the end of the day, it will always be better to be bad with a purpose and then build a sustainable project than to just settle for making the Play-In Tournament or being sent home in the first round of the playoffs every single year.
