It might take a U.S. president traveling to Egypt to overshadow the attention given to New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ journey to the land of the pharaohs.

The former Green Bay star was conspicuous in his absence from the team’s recent two-day mandatory minicamp, leading some to question his trip’s effect on preparedness and cohesion.

However, team officials insist they are not concerned about Rodgers being in Africa while his teammates worked, and those teammates also expressed their utter unconcern over his whereabouts.

Former Packer James Jones told FS1’s Speak that there is nothing to be alarmed over Rodgers missing a brief minicamp.

“If I’m Aaron Rodgers, a 4-time MVP, and I’ve been at everything with the Jets for the last two years, there’s nothing wrong with missing two days.”

James has a valid point, though the same deference would likely only be given to someone of Rodgers’ stature.

Jets fans know well that their hopes for a breakout season rest on their quarterback, and all remember how a promising 2023 circled the drain the moment he went down with an Achilles injury.

New York has a stout defense and notable offensive weapons to compliment Rodgers, and after opening the season on Monday night in San Francisco, the Jets have a schedule that could favor a fast start.

If that turns out to be the case, Rodgers will be handed the keys to the Big Apple.

And if New York plays well into January, no one will remember a little jaunt across the ocean.
