The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t done themselves a lot of favors over the course of the NBA offseason thus far, as the team has made questionable move after questionable move, which has led to some calling the team the laughing stock of the NBA.

Along with hiring a head coach, JJ Redick, with zero coaching experience, seemingly because he was good friends with superstar LeBron James and his co-host on a podcast, the Lakers went and drafted Bronny James with their second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, which was not received well.

The move to hire a head coach with no experience was bad enough as it seemed to show a lack of leadership and savvy in the front office, but drafting LeBron James’ son with the goal of making history rather than winning games is something that might come back to haunt the storied franchise.

As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Lakers in terms of public perception regarding what is going on in the front office, Bronny James didn’t help matters in his introductory press conference earlier this week by claiming he didn’t consider playing with his father on the NBA level, which has been a storyline for the past few years.

Craig Carlton of FOX Sports blasted Bronny James for that comment and claimed it’s that kind of denial that makes people dislike the James family via The Carton Show.

“It’s this kind of stuff that makes people hate the James family,” Carton said.

Hopefully, for Los Angeles, Bronny James can prove his worth to the fans, media and the franchise with his play on the basketball floor, even though he’ll be spending most of his time in the G League during his rookie campaign.

Only time will tell if the Lakers can get back on track and change the narrative moving forward, as things have gotten progressively worse for the team this summer.
