Bronny James hasn’t played a single minute in the NBA, yet he’s been the biggest talking point in the league for days now.

LeBron James’ firstborn was taken by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 pick.

But just like with all second-rounders, he’s not guaranteed a roster spot.

With that in mind, ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith revealed his thoughts on the situation.

He started by acknowledging the fact that some people thought Bronny wouldn’t even be able to resume his playing career after the major health scare he went through last season.

Nonetheless, he also admitted that Bronny would’ve not been drafted if it wasn’t for his father, adding that the scrutiny about whether he’s good enough to make the Lakers’ roster was valid.

Bronny wasn’t to blame for how things went down.

He got behind in his development because he had to spend months away from the game after suffering cardiac arrest and collapsing.

LeBron and Rich Paul may not have done him many favors with the way they handled his situation, but some current and former players believe he’s a good-enough defender to make an impact at the next level already.

It’s not easy to try and live up to your father’s unmatched standards.

However, he’s his own man, and he should be judged as such, not as LeBron James’ son.

His father got him an opportunity to prove his worth, but it will now be all about him and making the most of that chance.
