It is about a mile from Greenwich High School and from the 18-hole golf course at the Milbrook Club. The Cos Cob Marina and Pomerance Park, where trails run alongside a pond and through the ruins of a large stone house, are five minutes away.

Driving to Stamford takes about 15 minutes. Hartford is 90 minutes away. The Greenwich train station is a five-minute drive; from there, trains make the trip to Grand Central Station in Manhattan in a little over an hour.

Size: 2,729 square feet

Price per square foot: $788

Indoors: A stone path leads from the street up to the front door, which opens into a foyer with wide-plank hardwood floors. The living room, to the left, has a fireplace, built-in shelves and windows looking out onto the flowering shrubs in the front yard.

Through a wide doorway is a dining room with a crystal chandelier and a door to a sunroom that has access to a patio outside. The dining room connects to a bright kitchen that has a Viking range with a forest-green enamel front; a center island with bar stools; and a breakfast area with sliding-glass doors that open to the patio.

The kitchen connects to a sunken family room that has access to a powder room and to a long hallway leading to a wood-paneled office.

All four bedrooms are on the second floor, reached from stairs in the family room. The primary bedroom has high ceilings, a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom with a combined tub and shower. Next door is a bedroom that could be combined with the primary suite. The other two bedrooms have the use of a full bathroom off the hallway; one also has an en suite half bathroom.

Another full bathroom is on the top floor, which could be used as a guest suite or another family room.

Outdoor space: The patio off the sunroom and breakfast room is big enough for separate dining and sitting areas. The backyard beyond is landscaped with grass and mature trees. The attached garage holds two cars.

This house was designed by Richard E. Schmidt, a Chicago School architect who occasionally worked with Frank Lloyd Wright. It sits within the boundaries of the Hutchinson Street District, a historic landmark designated by the city in 1977 for its collection of Romanesque Revival, Queen Anne and Prairie-style homes.

The property is about a 10-minute walk from an Aldi supermarket and a Target, and a 20-minute walk from Wrigley Field. Montrose Beach and Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary are about half an hour away on foot, on Lake Michigan. Evanston is a 20-minute drive. Chicago O’Hare International Airport is about 40 minutes away.
