The Sacramento Kings managed to secure Malik Monk for the long run.
The Sixth Man of the Year candidate will sign a four-year contract to stay under Mike Brown’s tutelage, despite reportedly drawing plenty of interest from several suitors.
Nonetheless, not all is good news in Sac-Town.
According to a report by Anthony Slater and Sam Amick, De’Aaron Fox has no interest whatsoever in signing a contract extension right now (via NBA Central).
De’Aaron Fox will not sign an extension with the Kings this summer, as he wants to first see the long-term vision for the team’s roster, per @anthonyVslater & @sam_amick

Per the report, Fox wants to make sure the team is heading in the right direction, and he wants to get a glimpse at the bigger picture and the outlook of the roster for years to come.
Moreover, he could be eligible to sign a super-max contract extension if he makes an All-NBA team, so he clearly has a huge financial incentive to play the waiting game as well.
Fox reportedly wants to win at the highest level and wants to see whether the Kings are on the same page with him.
The Kentucky product entered the league with high hopes and expectations, but he was a bit of a late bloomer.
He’s been at his best under coach Brown, and multiple teams wouldn’t even hesitate to inquire about his availability, should it come to that.
The Kings should be a perennial playoff team with this roster, even in the stacked Western Conference, and it seems like next season will be key for the future of the organization.
