The New York Knicks took a massive step forward during this past 2023-24 NBA season, as they saw a legitimate superstar emerge in the form of fan-favorite Jalen Brunson while also seeing the team around him come together and entertain the masses during the NBA playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, injuries piled up during the regular season leading into the postseason, which ultimately proved too much to overcome, as they were beaten in seven games by the Indiana Pacers in the second round.

The Knicks lost star forward Julius Randle to a season-ending injury ahead of the playoffs and saw Brunson go down in Game 7 against the Pacers.

Despite the unfortunate end to the season for the Knicks, the future is bright in New York with Brunson leading the way, which could result in a big move this offseason to bolster the roster and bring in another star.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Paul George could be the star player they target if he opts into the final year of his deal and gets traded to New York via NBA Central.

“Another trusted source has advised me to keep the Knicks on the list as a potential trade suitor for George if the All-NBA swingman opts into the final season of his current contract at $48.8 million. That step would position George to push for a trade to another team,” Stein wrote.

With Randle not being the ideal second star alongside Brunson, the addition of George would be a brilliant move for the Knicks, as he could be the missing piece to the championship puzzle for the Knicks.

As of right now, contract talks with the Clippers don’t seem to be going well for the Los Angeles native, which could result in a deal getting made between these two teams this summer.
