For decades, the NBA has featured nothing but the creme of the crop of basketball players.
With few exceptions, the best players of all time have taken their talents to the NBA at least once in their careers.
Nonetheless, just a handful of them stand out from the rest of the pack, and even fewer of them can brag about being NBA champions.
Notably, that has to do with countless factors, but their mentality and approach to the game can also have a huge impact.
That’s why former NBA coach George Karl took to Twitter to point out the differences between the two types of basketball players, citing that some ask the coach what’s in it for them while others ask the coach how they can help the coach and the team.
Unsurprisingly, Karl urged all players to be like the second one, sharing a pic of legendary coach Dean Smith and Michael Jordan in college.
There are two types of players:
The first says “what’s in it for me?”
The second says “what can I do for you and the team, Coach?”
Always be the second type. pic.twitter.com/zvRExU9f6K

Karl has always been unapologetic and a straight shooter, and that has gotten him tangled up in some controversies throughout the course of the years.
He’s only become more unhinged since he joined social media, and he’s going to keep telling it as it is.
Some thought he was taking shots at an unnamed player, but that is just not Karl’s style; he’ll call out whoever he wants to call out, and he’ll do it by name.
So, for this time at least, he was just sharing his knowledge and a bit of advice for aspiring stars of this game.
