Most Minnesota Vikings fans were disappointed to see Kirk Cousins move on in the offseason.

While Cousins couldn’t take the team on a significant playoff run, he was well-liked within the organization, and fans seemed to appreciate the energy and passion he brought to the team.

After losing Cousins, there were a lot of questions surrounding this team, and what they would look like moving forward.

These questions got louder as the offseason went on, especially after J.J. McCarthy was taken in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

McCarthy was fresh off winning a national title with the University of Michigan, but there were some doubts about what he could do at the highest level.

There is still a long way to go until the season starts, but if early comments are any indication, it appears that McCarthy is quickly catching on to the Vikings’ system.

Reporter Ben Goessling recently highlighted how well McCarthy is adapting to the NFL, and what he is seeing out of him to this point.

Goessling said, “While the Vikings’ footwork is different from what he’s used in the past, McCarthy said it’s not a drastic change.”

If this is true, Vikings fans could be in a real treat during the 2024 season, assuming McCarthy gets the starting job early in the season.

Many rookie quarterbacks have struggled to find their footing in the NFL in recent history, but if McCarthy is already adjusting well to new schemes and offensive philosophies, he just might be able to have a tangible impact in Year 1.
