The New York Knicks may have fallen short of their ultimate goal when they fell to the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs, but the team fought through a ton of injuries and showed that they have a strong foundation to build upon going forward.
One member of that core is up for a new contract, and he is reportedly not thrilled with the team’s current offer and will be testing the market despite many believing his return was a foregone conclusion.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that free agent wing OG Anunoby is not thrilled with the Knicks’ current offer, saying “Let’s keep an eye on that. Most people believe Anunoby will stay with New York, but there have been indications he may want to test the market because he’s not thrilled with what the Knicks are offering.”

It’s unclear at the moment what exactly the Knicks have offered, but after trading Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett for him during this past season, it would be devastating to only have OG for just 23 regular season games and nine playoff games.
Anunoby’s injury in the Pacers series appeared to stop New York’s momentum, and it became clear how vital he already was to the team’s success.
Keeping Anunoby has to be the team’s No. 1 priority this season, so it’s troubling that this news is already coming out, though it could just be a negotiating tactic.
Windhorst was right in saying fans certainly need to keep an eye on this situation.
