The Seattle Seahawks will look quite different next season.

That’s because Pete Carroll will no longer be there calling all the shots, which is going go be quite an odd sight for the fans.

Nonetheless, they will still have a strong defensive mind leading the way, with Mike Macdonald looking to prove himself as a head coach in this league.

Moreover, as much as he’ll favor defense, he knows he has a very talented weapon on the other side of the field in Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

That’s why he recently revealed that the former first-round pick would be a “massive piece” of their offense going forward (via Around the NFL):

“He’s a guy that we can focus our offense around, along with other guys,” head coach Mike Macdonald said of Smith-Njigba, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “Tyler Lockett is still a great player. DK Metcalf, phenomenal player. The runners, Noah Fant. But he’s definitely going to be a massive piece of what we’re trying to do offensively.”

Smith-Njigba closed his rookie season on a high note after some early struggles.

He suffered a fractured wrist in just his second preseason game, but that didn’t stop him from appearing in every single game of the season.

He finished the year with 63 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns, and he became more and more comfortable with the offense as the season progressed.

Geno Smith has a cannon for an arm, and he’s the kind of quarterback who will never hesitate to sling the pigskin down the field.

Smith-Njigba has a strong build and usually has the edge over his opposition, and he can play both in the slot or outside.

His combination of route-running skills, speed, and physicality should make him a perennial mismatch.

And while it might take the Seahawks a while before going back to their winning ways, they clearly have a special and versatile wide receiver there.
