You know a team is close when they support a player that is not currently in the building.
The New York Jets are in an interesting situation with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
After he spent the entire OTA period with the team, he was not in the building for the mandatory minicamp portion.
Veteran cornerback D.J. Reed showed his support for his quarterback in front of the New York media recently.
“A.R. has been here the majority of the OTAs…That’s our quarterback. If it’s important to him, it’s important to us. It’s really not a big deal,” Reed said, per Jets Videos.

More often than not, the media will make something bigger than it is in sports.
The reality of the situation is that Rodgers has shown his leadership qualities by showing up for nearly all of the voluntary OTAs.
Yes, mandatory minicamp is mandatory for a reason, but it isn’t like he is in a contract dispute or upset at the team.
He is dealing with something else that is important to him.
Reed and the team are clearly showing their support for their quarterback because they know that he will be ready to go before the season starts.
When a quarterback has been in the NFL for two decades, people should understand that plenty of preparation and hard work goes into each and every year.
Rodgers wouldn’t be in the league still if he wasn’t ready to commit to playing quality football.
Look for the four-time MVP and Super Bowl champion to be back in no time with the full support of everyone inside the building.
