The Boston Celtics are currently sporting a 2-0 series lead with the NBA Finals now shifting from TD Garden to the American Airlines Center for Game 3 and Game 4, but the team may have suffered a major blow ahead of tomorrow’s game with one of their best players on the mend once again.

After a brilliant 20-point performance off the bench in Game 1 in his return to the basketball floor after dealing with a calf strain for most of the NBA playoffs, Kristaps Porzingis suffered what is being called a rare injury in Game 2, which has put his status in doubt for the rest of the best-of-seven series.

Obviously, the Celtics were still able to dominate the Eastern Conference throughout the postseason, with the team losing only two games thus far.

However, not having Porzingis on the floor against a resilient team like the Dallas Mavericks could prove costly, as Luka Doncic and company are desperately looking to get back into this series.

Although Porzingis’ injury is concerning and could keep him out for some time, according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, he still seems determined to play and help this team win an NBA title.

Previously, Porzingis had said he would be willing to die on the court in order to play Game 3, which was a bit of hyperbole.

Yet, he doubled down on that comment, per Weiss.

“I mean, I hope not, but if it comes to that to win, yes,” Porzingis said.

It’ll be interesting to see how Porzingis’ injury impacts this series, whether it leads to him being sidelined or simply not playing near 100% while on the basketball floor moving forward.

The Mavericks are a slight favorite coming into Game 2, and that could change drastically if Porzingis is ruled out on Wednesday in Dallas.
