A fan writes a message on a mural for former Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Kobe Bryant during the official memorial ceremony for him and his daughter, Gianna, at nearby Staple Center on February 24, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. One of the most inspiring stories in the NBA in terms of starting from essentially nothing with very long odds of being successful in the league, Alex Caruso of the Chicago Bulls has carved out an impressive career going from a two-way player with the Los Angeles Lakers to a starter to one of the best defensive guards in the NBA in the Windy City.

Although he was unable to stay with the Lakers like he wanted to before ultimately ending up in Chicago, Caruso has done nothing but improve from season to season while earning the distinction of being an elite defender.

Along with winning an NBA title with the Lakers back in 2020 while playing alongside superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Caruso earned All-Defensive First Team honors last year and made the All-Defensive Second Team this year.

Needless to say, Caruso inspires anyone who dreams of making it to the NBA and becoming a household name for what they can accomplish on the basketball court at the professional level.

Although he’s become an inspiration to young players himself, Caruso had his fair share of inspiration while dreaming of being a star in the league, as he idolized Kobe Bryant and now has a tattoo on his leg of the late great Lakers superstar holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy via PlayersTV.

Caruso is one of many players in the league today who have been inspired by Bryant and have chosen to honor him in one way or another, whether with a tattoo like the Bulls star or in another way.

Even though Bryant retired nearly a decade ago and passed away four years ago, he remains a source of inspiration for anyone who’s ever picked up a basketball.
