The New York Yankees are riding high these days, but they were dealt some concerning news on Thursday.
Their star off-season acquisition Juan Soto left Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Twins with left forearm discomfort, the team announced.
Soto made his first three plate appearances of the night, but then was replaced by Alex Verdugo after the game entered a lengthy rain delay in the sixth inning.
The Yankees acquired the soon-to-be-free agent from the San Diego Padres this past off-season to pair his ability to get on base with the power Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
The 25-year-old Soto hasn’t disappointed and neither has the Yankees’ record. He came into Thursday’s game slashing .319/.422/.605 and has helped New York to an American League-best record of 44-19.
