New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is looking to turn over a new leaf and leave his rocky tenure with the Chicago Bears behind him, and he is in a great spot to do it with Mike Tomlin and Russell Wilson serving as mentors for the young QB.
Another thing that should help him get comfortable is the relationship he has with one of his new wide receivers, which apparently goes back farther than fans originally knew.
USA Today’s Jarrett Bailey shared a clip of Fields speaking with the media during OTAs, and Fields spoke on his relationship with WR George Pickens, saying, “I knew George before y’all knew George” and added that he has known him since high school and praised him for being a “freak athlete.”

Fields said that Pickens is the same player that he knew in high school, saying that if you throw it up to him, he’s most likely to come down with it.
It’s nice to see Fields looking happy and comfortable in his new digs, as his Bears tenure was tumultuous and didn’t always put him in a great position to succeed with poor offensive line play, inconsistent wide receiver play, and poor coaching.
Fields will now have the chance to sit and learn behind Wilson for at least a year and when he does get a chance to step on the field, he’ll have his favorite target from his childhood to rely on.
It’s an entirely new quarterback room in Pittsburgh, and so far, so good.
