All eyes in Chicago are on Bears’ first-round draft pick Caleb Williams, and there is no question that the quarterback will own the Windy City if he grabs the position and makes it his.

Now comes word that one of his primary receiving targets believes the USC product is the “real deal.”

Keenan Allen joined the Bears after several productive years in San Diego, and he is accustomed to hauling in passes from the likes of Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert.

In other words, Allen knows a quality NFL arm when he sees one.

Former Denver cornerback and close Allen associate Cliff Harris told Up & Adams that the receiver lavished praise on Williams and “expects big numbers.”

The keys to Chicago will be handed to Williams if he indeed produces those numbers and more victories to go with them.

After all, most current Bears fans would be forced to admit that Jay Cutler is the team’s best quarterback in their lifetime – and that’s not saying much.

Before that there was Sid Luckman, who last donned a Chicago uniform in 1950.

Now comes Williams to the franchise that passed up on Patrick Mahomes to select Mitch Trubisky.

This time, the team brass made sure that they would not overlook the young man who was widely heralded as the best quarterback in this year’s class and perhaps more.

If Allen is correct and Williams is the savior, there will be legions of joyous fans along Lake Michigan celebrating like the team has rarely had a chance to do since the glory days of 1985.
