His status as the Denver Broncos’ primary wide receiver was never in doubt.

However, with Jerry Jeudy no longer on the premises, Courtland Sutton has only gotten even more important to the team.

He knows it, and that’s why he’s using most of his leverage to get the money he thinks he’s deserving of.

Sutton has been nowhere to be found during the Broncos’ OTAs as he looks to get a new contract, but to no avail.

With that in mind, fellow WR Marvin Mims Jr voiced his support for him, calling him a leader and a great player who makes tough catches look like easy ones, adding that he was excited to get him back at some point (via Zac Stevens).

Right now, it seems highly unlikely that Sutton will decide to hold out until he gets a new contract, but these situations often get tricky in the blink of an eye.

Despite having a subpar quarterback situation for most of his career, he’s still been able to put up big numbers, and he’s clearly cut out to be a WR1.

It’s the dawn of a new era for Sean Payton’s team.

The head coach will get a chance to deploy his system at full scale in his second season in charge of the team, and Bo Nix will need their best receiver out there to be in a position to succeed as a rookie.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to get past this issue sooner rather than later, as the clock keeps ticking.
