Klay Thompson’s situation with the Golden State Warriors is quite a complicated one.
On the one hand, he has built a strong legacy there, and playing with the same team for your entire career is something not many players can brag about.
On the other hand, they might not be able — or even willing — to offer him the most money among his potential suitors, and that’s also a major factor in play, especially considering the fact that this might be the last long-term and lucrative deal of his career.
There has been plenty of speculation about Thompson leaving the Warriors if he doesn’t feel valued enough, and the Orlando Magic are reportedly considering making him a major offer.
Nonetheless, Warriors analyst Marc Grandi doesn’t think money will be the only thing that could move the needle for the four-time NBA champion this offseason (via 95.7 The Game).
“I don’t think it’s a GIVEN that Klay is going to whoever offers him the most money.”

Grandi doesn’t think that it’s a given that Thompson would simply play for the team that offers him the most money.
A big payday has seemingly never been the reason why Thompson gets out of bed.
He grew up with money, and he’s taken pay cuts in the past for the team’s sake.
More than that, he’s already made generational wealth.
Thompson is a relentless competitor with a huge chip on his shoulder every single time he sets foot on the court, and he seems to be the kind of player who would favor legacy and competitiveness over cash every day of the week.
