US-based deli salad maker Reser’s Fine Foods has announced it has acquired local peer St. Clair Foods.

Beaverton, Oregon-headquartered company Reser’s haas not disclosed the financial details of the transaction.

St. Clair Foods is a manufacturer of refrigerated deli salads, frozen side dishes and frozen entrees, primarily for the foodservice industry.

Post-deal, St. Clair becomes an operating division of Reser’s Fine Foods. The founder of the Memphis, Tennessee-based business, Oscar Edmonds III, who is currently president of the company, will transition into an advisory role.

His children, Brian Edmonds who is presently vice president of the salad manufacturer, and Lauren Edmonds, who is vice president of marketing and product development, “will remain as leaders within the division” said Reser’s in a statement.

Reser’s said the deal will create “regional, channel and product opportunities for the company while supporting St. Clair’s current path and opening new doors for growth”.

It added that it chose St. Clair because the two businesses are “both family companies with strong portfolios of high-quality products.

Mark Reser, CEO of Reser’s Fine Foods, said: “St. Clair Foods has a long successful history of producing and selling fresh refrigerated and frozen foods across the US.”

St. Clair’s Brian Edmonds added: “The friendship between the Edmonds family and the Reser family goes back 40 years and we welcome the opportunity to continue the growth of St. Clair Foods with a business relationship based on trust and mutual respect.”

St. Clair Foods has 800 square feet of manufacturing space and 350 employees.

Reser’s, distributes it products via the supermarket, club store, and foodservice channels. Its portfolio includes brands such as Reser’s American Classics, Main St Bistro, Stonemill Kitchens and Don Pancho. It operates 14 facilities across the US and Mexico and has more than 4,500 employees.
