When people talk about the best young quarterbacks in the NFL right now, they mention men such as Brock Purdy, Joe Burrow, and C.J. Stroud.
One man who isn’t mentioned as much in that breath is Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While he has shown promise in his first three pro seasons, he still has lots of room for improvement, as does his team.
Nick Wright said on FS1’s “First Things First” that while Lawrence isn’t an elite QB right now, he will be this coming season.

Wright pointed out a stretch from Week 9 in 2022 to Week 13 last season in which Lawrence put up strong numbers for a Jaguars team that was on the rise.
As he started to surge late in 2022, they clawed their way into the playoffs, where they overcame a 27-0 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round.
An ankle and shoulder injury slowed Lawrence down late last season, and as a result, his overall production dipped a bit compared to 2022.
Perhaps some would argue that he doesn’t quite have the type of offensive weapons he needs to reach his full potential right now.
Christian Kirk is a solid wide receiver, but he isn’t a true WR1, while Calvin Ridley left this offseason after giving Jacksonville 1,016 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns, which led them in both categories.
It isn’t a given they will return to the playoffs in 2024, especially given the improvements some other teams across the conference have made, but if Lawrence does become elite, perhaps he will carry them to the postseason.
