“Jurors in Donald Trump’s criminal trial are expected to begin deliberations on Wednesday, after both sides spent hours on closing arguments that portrayed the case in starkly different terms: A lawyer for Mr. Trump called it a lie-riddled sham without ‘a shred of evidence,’ while a prosecutor said it was just one part of a wide-ranging conspiracy to ‘hoodwink the American voter,’” the New York Times reports.
“The prosecutor, Joshua Steinglass, meticulously described a scheme on the eve of the 2016 election to muzzle a porn star’s account of a sexual encounter with a $130,000 payment from Mr. Trump’s onetime fixer, Michael Cohen. Mr. Cohen testified that he had acted on Mr. Trump’s orders and been reimbursed in a deal that was confirmed in the Oval Office.”
Said Steinglass: “All roads lead to the man who benefited the most, Donald Trump.”
