Change seems to be in the air for the Detroit Pistons after they finished with the Eastern Conference’s worst record and lost more than 50 games for the fourth straight season.

They’re reportedly bringing in Trajan Langdon from the New Orleans Pelicans to be their new President of Basketball Operations, and they’re slated to have lots of salary cap space this summer.

According to The Athletic, if Langdon wants a new head coach, the Pistons could decide to fire Monty Williams.

Williams has been regarded as one of the NBA’s better head coaches and a real class act.

This was only his first season at the helm of the Pistons after being the head coach of the Phoenix Suns for the previous four years and guiding them to the NBA Finals in 2021.

Before that, he was the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans for five years, beginning with the 2010-11 campaign.

Detroit may have the beginnings of the hope for a brighter future, as guard Cade Cunningham, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft, finally made some strides this year.

After struggling with his shooting efficiency in his first two pro seasons, he shot a decent 44.9 percent overall and 35.5 percent from 3-point range while averaging 22.7 points and 7.5 assists per game this season.

It will take some time for Detroit to win their first playoff series since 2008, but perhaps they’re finally starting to take some real baby steps toward accomplishing just that by bringing in someone new to run the organization and perhaps hiring a new head coach.
