With the NBA offseason already underway for most of the league, there’s expected to be a lot of movement over the summer, with some big-name players potentially getting traded ahead of the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
One team that could be very aggressive in it’s attempt to shake up its roster is the struggling Atlanta Hawks franchise, which could be ready to move on from star guards Trae Young and/or Dejounte Murray.
There’s been a lot of speculation about the immediate future of Young in Atlanta, and it seems inevitable at this point that the team will at least try to trade him this summer because it is clearly not working with this talented duo in the backcourt.
Along with potentially making some significant moves during this offseason, the Hawks also own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, where they will almost certainly take a big man, making Clint Capela expendable, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
“Capela, who turned 30 on Saturday, will have an expiring contract next season at $22.3 million after averaging 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots this season,” Stein said. “The presence of Onyeka Okongwu and potential arrival of another big man through the draft, with Atlanta holding the No. 1 overall pick for the first time since 1975, is expected to make Capela available.”
Clint Capela is a name to watch on the trade market, per @TheSteinLine

It’ll be interesting to see what moves the Hawks make this summer, as they have a lot of work to do in order to find the right path to success.
Capela averaging a double-double makes him an attractive trade piece and there’s no doubt there will be some interest on the open market.
