As the NBA has grown in popularity and evolved into the juggernaut it is today, athletes are making the move into other business ventures like media.
Several players have launched successful production studios and podcasts, though older players like LeBron James and Chris Paul are looking to do even more after their playing careers are over.
James in particular is one of the most successful moguls in the league as he’s got numerous endorsement deals and investments that have paid off.
Like James, Paul is also a shrewd businessman as he’s got his hands in several different avenues and is set up well to do more in retirement.
With the idea of expansion coming to the NBA in the near future, both James and Paul look to get involved, via Evan Sidery of Forbes.
“Chris Paul told @Forbes he wants to own an NBA and WNBA team once he retires. Paul mentioned it could become a real possibility once the NBA expands. LeBron James has also mentioned he wants to own a team in Las Vegas. Definitely something to monitor over the next few years,” Sidery reported.

James has been open about his desire to be a part-owner of an NBA team, and it sounds like he and Paul could make for logical partners if the opportunity comes up.
James is already a minority owner in other sports like soccer, so his transition to become an NBA owner is a logical next step.
For now, the situation bears monitoring if and when the league adds more teams.
