The New York Jets had a rough 2023 season after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into Week 1, but after a busy offseason revamping the offense, the team’s expectations are through the roof once again.

Adding to the wide receiver room was a big priority to help out Garrett Wilson and give Rodgers some more depth to work with, but one surprising wideout is reportedly turning some heads already at the team facility.

Jets insider Paul Andrew Esden Jr. shared an article he wrote for Heavy Sports that detailed Jason Brownlee’s emergence this offseason, saying that ESPN’s Rich Cimini called him a “name to watch” who could surprise in this receiving corps.

Brownlee caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown as a rookie last season over seven games as the 25-year-old receiver caught on with New York as an undrafted free agent rookie.

The Jets’ current depth chart is fairly open outside of Wilson and new free agent signee Mike Williams, with rookie Malachi Corley, Xavier Gipson, and Allen Lazard among the other guys Brownlee will be competing with for targets.

That’s not exactly a murderer’s row of competition, and Brownlee is in a perfect position to work his way up the depth chart if he can continue this momentum into training camp and the preseason.

This Jets offense should be a lot more fun than last season and it will be interesting to see how the target share shakes out.

The WR3 spot on this team is wide open if Brownlee can step up and claim it.
